The Economics Honors program

Students must apply in February of their Junior year so that they can take Econ 396 in the Spring quarter of their junior year.

Admission Requirements

  1.  Acceptance into the economics major
  2.  Minimum cumulative UW GPA of 3.3
  3.  Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 in UW Economics courses
  4.  Minimum grade of 3.5 in ECON 300
  5.  Submission of completed application form by late February of their Junior year

*Please note that admission to the Econ Honors Program is competitive.

 

Program Requirements for Departmental Honors in Economics

   1. Complete the following

  •    ECON 300 and ECON 301with a minimum grade of 3.5 in each course
  •    One econometrics course. BS students must take and BA students should take one of the following: ECON 424, 481, 482, 483
  •    ECON 396 Honors Research Seminar (spring of junior year)
  •    ECON 496 Honors Seminar (fall of senior year)
  •    ECON 497 Honor Directed Study - Honors Thesis (winter of senior year). This course does not count toward the general education writing requirement.    Note : ECON 496 and 497 are in addition to the 400-level courses required to complete the degree.

  2. At the time of their graduation, honors students must have a minimum UW GPA of 3.3 and a minimum GPA of 3.5 in all economics courses.
